Because of unmarked Pune MahanagarParivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus stop and double parking on a narrow road the newly-renovated Kamala Nehru hospital’s gate is facing huge traffic problem in the Mangalwar Peth area. There used to be a bus stop outside the hospital. Not in front of the main gate, but a bit ahead. Now, passangers have to stand in front of the hospital’s gate. In the absence of a bus stand, they are at the mercy of the elements — rain and the harsh sun. traffic snarl develops when an ambulance passes through the hospital gate and a PMPML bus also happens to stop outside, making it difficult for them to move. The narrow road has traffic coming from both directions. Also, in the absence of P1 and P2 parking, twowheelers are randomly parked on both sides of the road. This narrows down the road further and a traffic jam is bound to happen.
It is the PMPML’s duty to provide an alternate bus stand for commuters. The current arrangement is affecting the hospital’s services and traffic jams right outside a hospital can cause delays, and people’s lives could also be at risk.
