A successful Bus Day

Pune’s ‘Bus Day’ is a great social event. Most of the Punekars take active participation in  bus day by discarding self-owned private vehicles to solve the worsening traffic mess. There was was minimum traffic on Paud road, Nulstop, Karve road in prime morning time. Private and PMPML buses were all clean and on time. There were volunteers and information box on each and every bus stop for guidance of people. People in some areas where there was a problem of bus connectivity or frequency were the only ones compelled to bring out their two-wheelers or take to three-wheelers.

Gaurangi Kulkarni said “Today I came by bus to office. after so many days traveled by bus. something change. Feels great. there is huge bus frequency on road. ”

College student Vedavati experienced that frequency of busses are very high hence there was no crowd on bus stops and in bus. Also because of less traffic on roads, bus covered a fix distance in very short time.

Arati Kaulgud working women says, “The idea of ‘bus day’ is very useful and public bus travel should be encouraged more often by the authorities. But there should be buses on odd roads where private vehicles are the only option.”

Vinod Kulkarni,IT Professional who traveled by private vehicle from baner balewadi to hinjewadi said that he got much less traffic on road than any other working days.

It seems the idea of bus day will improve traffic congestions and problem of pollution in city.

It would help to change the picture of crowded roads in pune.
