Initiating steps to establish Pune as a women-friendly city, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) announced that it will make glass doors in lifts of all high-rise buildings mandatory. Municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak said “As part of PMC’s gender budget, there is a need for a policy to further the progress of women. Keeping security concerns in mind, the civic body will make glass doors compulsory for lifts in all buildings.” there was a need for analysis women on health issues and that there is more to be done to address the issue of female hence they have ensured a provision of 0.5 FSI for toilets for women. The issues related to women have gained importance in the city after more women were elected to PMC due to 50 per cent reservation for women in civic bodies.
