Tech firm in Pune ties up with restaurants, NGOs and serves up on a plate zero-food wastage app

Inculcating the ‘zero-food wastage’ message among residents, this app allows the foodies headed to restaurants/eateries earn reward points for not wasting food they are served.

AT A time when apps are a rage, here’s one that takes on a social route-sensitising residents to take up the cause of not wasting food in a country where for some, finding a meal twice a day is a privilege.

Inculcating the ‘zero-food wastage’ message among residents, this app allows the foodies headed to restaurants/eateries earn reward points for not wasting food they are served. The reward points can be redeemed later.

Since November 2015, city-based firm, SamvadSocial Technologies, in collaboration with My Indian Dream, has been creating awareness for the cause of zero food wastage. Carrying forward the initiative, the firm will be launching a free mobile application – Food Dosti – a techno-social solution to address food wastage in the city today.

Sanjeev Neve, director, SamvadSocial Technologies, said, “We held brainstorming sessions to discuss ways in which the country can become progressive and sustainable. The app is one step towards the same. It connects three significant groups involved in food consumption in a symbiotic way to reduce food wastage footprint, benefiting the three simultaneously.”
