Roads in the city will be temporarily closed today for the Tazia processions of Muharram. The main procession will start from Shrinath talkies at 2 pm and pass via Dutta Mandir, Belbaug chowk, Jeejamata chowk, Shaniwarwada, Kakasaheb Gadgil statue chowk, Dengle bridge, Shahir Amarshaikh chowk, RTO chowk and end at Sangam bridge.
Another procession will start from 694 Taboot Street in Pune Camp at 12 noon. It will go via Dastur Meher Road, Babajan Durgah, Bhople chowk, M G Road, Nehru Memorial hall, road opposite KEM hospital, Daruwala bridge, Belbaug chowk and merge with the main procession.
Yet another procession will start at 4 pm from Asudhkhana chowk in Khadki and go via Navi Talim chowk, Star hotel chowk, Maharashtra Bank chowk, Khadki railway station, Bombay-Pune Road and end at V B Patil bridge.
One procession will begin at 10.30 am from Imamwada in Pune cantonment and pass through Nehru Memorial chowk, road opposite police commissionerate, Sadhu Vaswani chowk, Aga Khan compound and go in the same direction to Imamwada where the ‘taboot’ will be immersed.
