PMC makes flyover near CoEP operational

A part of the flyover near College of Engineering, Pune (CoEP) which was completed, has been made operational by Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and the city police from last Saturday.

Motorists moving from Wakdewadi side towards CoEP side can now use that stretch of the flyover. However, some of the motorists complained of inadequate sign boards about the new move that PMC and the traffic police have made.
Speaking to Sakal Times, Traffic Assistant Police Inspector of Khadki police station said that the police are waiting for PMC to put more signboards and barricades so that commuters do not face any problem. The flyover is operational now and will help in reducing traffic congestion at Sancheti Chowk and near Patil Estate.

Those wanting to proceed towards Deccan Gymkhana and Pune station can use the flyover. If they want to move towards Sangamwadi bridge, they have to use the road stretch on the left side of flyover.

Similarly, people coming from Sangamwadi bridge and wanting to go towards Pune station can take the immediate left after the bridge ends to proceed further. Those wanting to go towards Deccan Gymkhana will have to utilise the additional lane created on the other side of the road.

They have placed signboards and barricades to inform the motorists about the new arrangements that they have made.

A commuter said that signboards are not only inadequate in number but are also not clearly visible. They could not see any traffic signboard and if traffic department has placed any signboard, then it should be at the proper location.  Echoing similar views, another commuter, said that signboards are not properly visible. More signboards should be placed at a proper location. Traffic wardens and traffic officials were deployed at Sancheti Chowk to manage the traffic rush.

PMC Additional City Engineer said that PMC has done the traffic diversion recently at Sancheti Chowk which is creating a little problem as citizens are not aware about the new changes. Once the citizens understand the diversion, they will get used to it. The work of other flyovers is in progress and once it gets completed, it will sort the traffic problems of the whole area.
