Kailas Gawde, PMPML’s traffic manager operations, said, “Guardian minister Girish Bapat has donated a luxury bus through his funds which has increased the number of buses on the route from three to four. This will improve the frequency of buses. We will monitor commuters’ response for a month before deciding on adding more buses.“
Satish Ghate, manager of PMPML’s Nigdi bus depot, said, “We had started a shuttle bus service on the Wakad-Hinjewadi route two years back. The response, so far, has been good.Commuters coming from Katraj, Wadgaon, WarjeMalwadi, Bavdhan and other areas reach by PMPML buses at Wakad and board the shuttle service buses to go to the IT companies in Hinjewadi. The buses in the shuttle bus service are parked near the Wakad octroi post. PMPML conductors and drivers have been given instructions that they should not start the journey till the all the seats are occupied by passengers in the bus. As a result there is good response to the buses and we plan to increase number of buses plying on this shuttle bus service route.“
Ghate added, “We think IT professionals would appreciate the luxury bus service and demand more such buses on this route. Increasing congestion on the road between Wakad and Hinjewadi demands that IT professionals must shun private vehicles and use PMPML buses instead.“
Vinay alias Vinayak Gaikwad, local corporator, said, “Mayor Shakuntala Dharade flagged off the bus on the Kaverinagar police lineHinjwadi phase II route which passes through Pink City road-Mankar chowkWakad chowk.“
