Lane cutting is quite a big problem in city and connecting highways. Lane cutting by the heavy vehicles on the Express-way which leads to traffic jams and road accidents. Highway police and the RTO are directed by Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) to take action against these vehicles particularly in ghat. The challenge is to ensure that drivers of heavy vehicles stick to the designated left lane. But they keep coming to the middle lane or the first lane that is meant for overtaking. This is one of the major causes for accidents.
