The barely 50% average rainfall recorded in Pune in June has now changed to surplus from June 1 to July 5.A total of 197.7mm rainfall has been recorded in this period which is 29.5 mm more when compared to the seasonal average of 168.2mm.
The city recorded 19.4mm rainfall at Shivajinagar observatory between 8.30pm on Monday and 8.30pm on Tuesday . The Lohegaon observatory recorded 16.7mm rainfall in the 24 hours.
The city will get occasional showers and spells of light rain in the coming days, India Meteorological Department (IMD) officials said. The weather bureau forecast a generally cloudy sky with intermittent and heavy rain on July 10 and July 11for the city. “The low-pressure area, which was lying over Bihar and adjoining east Uttar Pradesh earlier, has now strengthened into a well-marked low-pressure area. It is now over Uttar Pradesh and adjoining regions of Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh,“ an IMD official said.
Mahabaleshwar received 72mm rainfall on Monday whereas Aurangabad received 58mm rainfall. The IMD has forecast heavy rain for Vidarbha on Wednesday .
Despite the current weather system, parts of the state have received deficient rainfall. Aurangabad is lagging behind by 31.3 mm, whereas Satara has been deficient by 43.8mm , IMD said.
