Potholes have become trademark of the city. Thus, to overcome the rising problem of pothole ridden roads, the Pune Municipal Corporation has started ‘Pothole helpline’. Citizen can inform to PMC official about the location of the potholes in the city. When the helpline was started, the civic authorities had promised that the complaints about potholes will be attended to within 24 hours of the receipt of the call. But what is the scene on roads today? Is the condition changed?
Condition of roads at major crossroads have not been changed yet. While driving on major roads such as Satara road, SB road, Karve road, Paud road you could not even find a single stretch with smooth, pothole free road.
Most of the people are not calling up the helpline because they don’t believe it will solve their problems. Since people have apathy, they may have preferred to keep away from the helpline. This situation has to be changed for the betterment of the city.
