Bumper Monday for PMPML, best ever single-day earning

The PMPML has also been maintaining over 1,500 buses on roads, which has helped it make more revenue. “We have observed heavy rush during workdays, especially Mondays and Thursdays. We decided to target these days by having as many buses on roads as possible. On these days, we have also deployed additional staff at bus depots and bus stands. As a result, the commuters have also opted taking the buses,“ said Abhishek Krushna, CMD of PMPML.

The fortunes of the transport body had nosedived following the transfer of Shrikar Pardeshi, with only 1,100 buses being on the roads in the weeks after his departure. “This led to heavy operational losses. We framed a proper plan to improve the service. The first phase of this involved repair of all buses and procur ing of spare parts. The number of onroad buses gradually improved. Since last month, there have been over 1,500 buses on roads. From next month, this target would be 1,650 on-road buses.Conductors and depot managers have also been promised incentives, which have helped improve the service,“ Krushna added.

“The board of directors gave strict instructions to all depot managers and contractors to improve the service. Targets were set for every depot. It helped improve revenues. Two new BRT corridors are also starting in a couple of weeks. Once that is done, we are planning an online ticketing system by displaying time tables online,“ said a senior PMPML official.
