The residents of about 12 housing societies located within the floodline on Sinhagad Road area were moved out after gushing water from Mutha river entered the buildings’ basements on Wednesday . The locals said they faced such huge floods after 2005, when they had to move out of their houses. In fact, water entering the basement of buildings is not `uncommon’ for the residents of Anandnagar. About 30 families were shifted to Pushpak Mangal hall and at a newly constructed vegetable market building on Wednesday af ternoon after water started rising. Families living in ground and first floor were shifted, but those living on upper floors stay put, sure they won’t face any trouble.

If required, we will seek NDRF help.People have been offered overnight stay at two places. A team of 50 staff has been pressed in to manage the rescue and help operation in the area,“ he said.

The levels of Mula river also rose during the day , alarming authorities about possible trouble in Dapodi and Bopodi, which are close to the river.

Water was not discharged from Pavana reservoir into Pavana river, said the PCMC disaster management cell.

The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) disconnected power supply to eight transformers on Sinhagad Ro ad as a safety measure. The supply was disconnected around 4pm and it will be restored once the floodwater receeds.

Barring individual complaints from Wanowrie, NIBM Road and Bibvewadi, there were no reports of power disruption from other parts of the city and Pimpri Chinchwad.
