Street dogs are creating problems for birds such as Lapwing, peacock who build their nest on ground. Eggs of these birds are destroyed by these dogs.
Peacocks and peahens are also chased by dogs. Professor Sanjeev B. Nalavade (Head, Department of Geology, D.E.S. Fergusson College) said “I noticed in many occasion where dogs follows deer on hills. I try to protect these deer by throwing stones towards dogs but again after some time these dogs come from other way and start chasing deer.”
These dogs injure them or even kill them. They are also uncontrollable and harmful to the general public. Many cases of dog bites are being reported these days during morning walk on Tekadi.
