Valve stolen, drinking water wasted

A large quantity of drinking water was wasted as the newly installed valve of a pipeline of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) was pilfered by miscreants near Ota Scheme in Nigdi.  The water supply department of the PCMC is facing such type of thefts repeatedly. The water supply department had recently installed a pipeline for water supply from Sector number 23 to Krishnanagar.

On Wednesday, the department had successfully tested the new pipeline. The valve of the pipeline was stolen on November 26. The incident came to light when the water supply department once again started the final test run of the pipeline.

Due to the missing valve, water gushed out of the pipeline with a huge force. The water supply was stopped and the leakage was fixed after half an hour.

Junior engineer of water supply department said that, the water supply department is facing similar cases of sabotage repeatedly. The price of the valve was Rs 23,000. It must have been stolen for selling it in the scrap. The PCMC is planning to take legal action.
