The quality of water in Mula and Mutha rivers has always been a point of criticism. The forest department, therefore, has decided to undertake cleaning of the rivers soon. In this project, they will take the help of the civic bodies.
Forest minister told reporters on Saturday that the forest ministry was planning to undertake the river cleaning work by Diwali. The department will start work from Khadakwasala dam and carry on the cleaning up to the Pune Municipal Corporation limits.
They also added, as a part of the project, the Mula and Mutha rivers will be restored and the forest department will be cleaning the water of these rivers. The forest department is also planning beautification of river beds of Mula Mutha to give a fresh look to the rivers which flow across the city.
