Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is all set to facilitate Puneites who walk the streets with a plan of installing more subways. But what is the condition of the existing ones? Very few subways or over-bridges have been used regularly by pedestrians.
The foot bridge in front of SNDT College is one of them. It has nearly 50 steps which pedestrians choose to avoid. Karve road is very much crowded during peak hours. Many people prefer to risk their lives and cross busy roads rather than using this facility. It is also a hazard as speeding vehicles tend to swerve at last minute endangering other vehicles. The road witnessed an accident because of pedestrians crossing the road yesterday. Two bikes were involved in the accident.
