The city was cooler than Mahabaleshwar on Wednesday , with the temperature dipping to 13 degrees Celsius, 2.8 degrees below normal. The hill station recorded a minimum temperature of 14.3 degrees C.
Pune also recorded the second-lowest minimum temperature in the state after Nashik’s 10.5 degrees C, which was the lowest in the country .
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast a further drop in the minimum temperature, up to 12 degrees, in Pune by November 8.
“With a shift in season and transition to winter, lower temperatures are bound to be experienced in the city.The temperatures across the state are dropping because of cold, dry northerly winds flowing into the region,“ a met department official told TOI.
However, the minimum temperature are likely to rise slightly to 15 degrees owing to partly cloudy skies in the coming days.
The night temperatures have been appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of Vidarbha and appreciably below normal in some parts of central Maharashtra. They were below normal in some parts of Ma rathwada as well.
Pune’s maximum temperature settled at 31.1 degrees on Wednesday , around 0.3 degrees below normal. The city’s maximum temperatures would be between 31 degrees and 32 degrees C in the coming days, the met office has said.
