The sight of vehicles haphazardly cutting across the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) route on Nagar Road, forcing public transport to take normal lanes, has become a regular affair. Chaos rules the roost on the 1.5-km long stretch between Gunjan Talkies Chowk and Shastri Nagar, where buses ply outside the designated lanes. Bus drivers blame the motorists who block their way at the intersection. “At the signals closer to chowks, motorists block our way and do not allow us to get into our lanes. In a bid to avoid delays we get onto the regular road,” one of the drivers told Mirror.

However, Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) officials said they are acting against drivers who hop onto regular roads. S G Gaikwad, PMPML spokesperson, said, “We have started initiating action against our drivers who are found breaking lanes and not halting at the stops. We will carry out checks yet again and also inform local traffic police to take action against them.”
