The road concretisation work at the Shivarkar Road-Circle Road stretch on Fatima Nagar-Salunke Vihar Road, is causing inconvenience to some commuters but others are ready to bear the hardship for the sake of long-term public benefit.

According to a shop owner, the ‘No parking’ board put up by police adjacent to the road is affecting the business.
Due to the road construction and ‘No parking’ board, customers are not stopping their vehicles to make purchases. This is affecting their businesses. However, a local trader said that while the inconvenience caused was immense, people are ready bear it for long-term public benefit. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) is after all working for our benefit. Some inconvenience caused is acceptable.
Local corporator and Director of Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML), assured that the concretisation work will get over by March 31.
Fatima Nagar-Salunke Vihar Road is notified by PMC as one of the road stretches for concretisation. This particular road stretch is being concretised as a part of the first phase at a total cost of Rs 64 lakh. According to him, once in every two years PMC spends Rs 50 lakh to maintain the asphalt roads. However, a one time expenditure of Rs 64 lakh would ensure no maintenance expenditure is incurred for a decade. They are saving crores of public money.
