Civic activists have expressed unhappiness over the condition of roads in the control of the Pune Cantonment Board (PCB). One of the activists N K Bhog said, the roads are uneven and drainage chambers protruding out of the road surfaces are a common sight. The contractors do not do a fair job of repairing. Roads on many streets, including Taboot Street, Bootee Street, Centre Street and others are not in good shape. The pavements along the popular M G Road are so narrow that pedestrians are forced to walk on the middle of the road. Many roads, like the Kahun Road, have potholes. But the PCB puts the blame on the Pune Municipal Corporation for the same. PCB executive engineer K V Shirodkar said, the water pipelines laid by the PMC and the water valves leak at many places cause damage to roads.
